ASU CSW/SC Professional Development Conference
Inaugurated in 2008, the ASU CSW/SC Professional Development Conference is hosted each October at the Tempe, West, Polytechnic and Downtown Phoenix campuses.
ASU CSW/SC 2021 Conference scheduled for October 2021
Hosted over a two-day period, the goal of the conference is to provide readily-accessible information, resources, and strategies to help individuals succeed in their current position and in their long term career. Additionally, the conference provides workshops on issues and needs that are timely to Arizona State University's evolution as the New American University, with a particular emphasis on leadership development at all levels.
The design of nearly all workshops correspond to the “University’s Core Expectations for ASU Staff and Managers,” and all workshops focus on concrete strategies for success, such that an employee can take what they learned and apply it immediately. Furthermore, given ASU’s new compensation system based on performance and development, the CSW/SC Conference provides an important opportunity for staff to access development trainings, directly on campus at no direct cost to them or their unit. With its large variety of workshop offerings, the ASU CSW/SC Professional Development Conference is one of the single largest development events for university staff across public universities nationwide, demonstrating ASU’s value and commitment to the education of not only our students, but our staff as well.
Each campus offers an exciting variety of workshop sessions and special lunch time events, covering topics related to career development, workplace skills, leadership training, supervisory training, financial planning and work/life balance, among many others. The conference is open to all ASU faculty, staff and students and is completely free of charge to attend.
The conference is developed and hosted by the ASU Commission on the Status of Women in partnership with the ASU Staff Council.
Since its inception, the conference has grown in size and attendance. In Fall 2021, the conference was hosted for the first time in an entirely virtual format. With over 60 workshops, keynotes, events and nearly 2000 members of the ASU community attend, the CSW/SC Conference continues to be the largest university-provided development conference in the nation!
