ASU Holiday Drive 2022

ASU Holiday Drive donation box with toys.

The Commission on the Status of Women is hosting the ASU Holiday Drive to benefit valley foster children. There are currently 16,000 children in foster care in Maricopa County and the holidays can be a difficult time for these children, particularly this year.  To help make the holidays brighter, Arizona Department of Child Safety (DCS) is collecting gifts for foster children in need. DCS needs donations for children ages 0 to 21!

The need is greater than ever and the goal is to provide at least one gift to each child in foster care.  Help us to help these children by donating a gift this holiday season. Every donation matters. Even a small donation can make all the difference – and your donation will go directly to a child in foster care.

The ASU Holiday Drive will run from November 21st through December 8th.

Lots of ways to donate!

All donations must be received by the Department of Child Safety by December 9th for distribution -- so please donate early to allow enough time for the donation to be received.

There are three ways to donate:

  • Donate via AMAZON: Department of Child Safety has set-up a wish list for items on Amazon.  Purhcase an item from the wish list and it will be mailed directly to DCS for distribution to foster children.  This is a great option especially if you have Amazon prime!  To access the wish list go to: DCS Amazon Wishlist   You are not limited to this wishlist -- any donation would be appreciated!  It's also important to note that even if an item is listed as purchased -- you can still purchase and donate that item.  DCS needs large quantities of each item, so even if it is marked as "fulfilled" your selection and purchase of that item would be greatly appreciated. (Be sure to make a notation on your donation that you're from ASU!)
  • Send Donations Directly to DCS:  Prefer to purchase items on your own or from a different online vendor?  No problem!  You can send gifts/donations directly to the Department of Child Safety at     DCS Regional Team, 5800 W Glenn Dr., Ste 200, Glendale, AZ 85301.  See list below for suggested items to purchase. NOTE: DCS is not able to accept monetary donations (cash/check), so please do not send cash donations.  DCS can receive gift cards that would be distributed to teenagers in foster care.
  • Tempe Campus Holiday Drive Collection & Cocoa: The CSW is hosting a "Holiday Drive Collection & Cocoa" event, where you can bring your donations.  Tempe campus is scheduled for Dec 8th (click here for more details).
  • Unit Collections:  If your unit/department is interested in collecting donations for the drive, please contact CSW Director Karen Engler at Karen.Engler@asu.edu to coordinate and for additional details.
